In Seasons of Hardship, Guide Her Through Every Step of the Way

How does your girl handle stress or catastrophe? She might immediately look to you to see how you’re handling that situation. She might succumb to the flight response, running to hide. These are perfectly normal for young girls, and even divinely designed. But how do we train her to handle hard things well?

In the 1841 hymn “Nearer My God to Thee,” Sarah Flower Adams’ tune echoes of a peace in the midst of life’s storms, definitely not one from within human hearts. The peace in this hymn is a direct outflow of our walk with Christ.

In the minutia of stressful seasons, hold your girl’s hand moment by moment in prayer–and even hymn singing–until the day when she’s able to release your hand directly and walk her own path through times of difficulty.
