Starting an American Heritage Girls Troop is more than launching another program on the calendar—it’s planting a ministry that helps girls grow in faith, service, and confidence rooted in Christ.

In a world that often leaves girls confused and seeking identity in all the wrong places, AHG offers a space where girls can discover who God created them to be. Through adventure, leadership, and community that celebrates true girlhood, girls learn they were created on purpose, for a purpose. When you start a Troop, you’re creating a legacy of discipleship that will impact families, churches, and generations to come.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. AHG walks with you every step of the way. From your first conversation to your first Troop meeting, you’ll receive clear guidance, ready-to-use resources, and a dedicated team to support and equip you. Starting a Troop isn’t just possible—it’s purposeful, doable, and deeply rewarding. AHG makes it simple to turn your heart for mentoring girls into a thriving ministry that changes lives.

Ready to get started? Check out the three simple steps below:

AHG will guide you through 3 Simple Steps to Start a Troop:

1. Connect with AHG

Fill out the form below to kick start your journey in starting an AHG Troop. Schedule your first call with a Troop Development Coach to learn more about bringing a Troop to your area. You’ll talk about your vision for a Troop in your community, get your questions answered by someone who has started a Troop, and learn how AHG can equip you to start the chartering process.

2. Talk to Your Pastor & Ministry Team

Sharing the vision with your pastor and ministry team helps align hearts, build support, and ensure your new AHG Troop becomes a vibrant part of the church, school, or organization's ministry.

3. Build & Train Your Volunteer Team

It takes five dedicated volunteers to start a new AHG Troop (and chances are, they're already engaged in your faith community!). Once selected, Troop volunteers have resources and training at their fingertips on AHGfamily.org.

Take the first step, fill out the form and get connected.

There is a designated American Heritage Girls Troop Development Coach for your state ready to connect! Your Troop Development Coach will answer questions and provide helpful resources for you to share with a potential Charter Organization and other families who will join you in the formation of a Troop.

While you wait to hear back from the AHG team, we encourage you to dive in and get familiar with the chartering process. Click here to download the Steps to Start a Troop Workbook to dig in and see what it takes to charter a Troop.

Spiritual Alignment Matters.

American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered leadership and character development ministry. The Statement of Faith applies to all American Heritage Girls’ Charter Organizations and Adult Members to ensure that both AHG and the Troop are aligned in fulfilling the shared Mission of raising women of integrity.

Start Up Costs

To make your AHG Troop official (we call this “chartering”), your church or organization simply signs the Charter Organization Ministry Agreement—and for under $500*, your Troop can get started.

This includes your Charter Fee, which establishes your AHG Troop as an official ministry of your church or organization, plus a Troop Start-Up Box filled with essential resources to help you launch well. Inside, you’ll find materials to guide your Troop’s first steps and tools to share AHG with families and church leaders.

*Many Charter Organizations include AHG in their ministry budgets, while others choose to fundraise each year to cover the small renewal cost.
