In every successful AHG Troop you will find two things: a solid Christ-centered foundation and dedicated volunteers. AHG is committed to equipping and supporting volunteers as they go about the important work of mentoring girls to become women of integrity! You’re here because you have a desire to help with this mission. Follow along to learn answers to some of your questions!
What is an AHG volunteer?
Adults ages 21+ who agree to AHG’s Statement of Faith are eligible to volunteer as an AHG Adult Member. AHG experience is not required to become a volunteer. If you have a passion for AHG’s Mission, there is a place for you!
On average, Troops meet 2-4 times per month from the fall through the spring. There are a variety of ways you can volunteer and God has equipped you with extraordinary gifts. Take the Discover Your Unique Wisdom Quiz to uncover the type of wisdom that guides your everyday life. Your results will help you find a way to serve and bless others in an AHG Troop.
Dedicated everyday leaders are transforming lives. Check out the video below titled “Letter to My Leader” and get a taste of the impact you could make on a girl’s life.
How do I become an AHG Adult Member?
If you have not already connected with a local Troop, you can find one near you by visiting the Find A Troop map on americanheritagegirls.org. From there you can select a Troop, provide your contact information, and select “I want to volunteer”. A representative of the Troop Board will connect with you to share more about the Troop and talk through various volunteer opportunities.
The Charter Organization owns and supports the Troop. They will have a volunteer selection process in place that ensures their vision and your interests are in alignment. This process also helps to ensure a safe place for the girls.
Once the Troop and Charter Organization are in agreement, you will receive a registration email from AHGfamily (AHG’s online database). Following the prompts, you will complete your forms online, pay your registration fee, and take your training, all from within AHGfamily. After you have registered, you will receive an email from CoreScreening, AHG’s third party vendor for background checks. All Adult Members must complete a background check before participating in any Troop activities.
What training will I receive?
Trainings are available to all AHG Adult Members and are designed to equip and encourage volunteers to serve with confidence and excellence. Every AHG Adult Member has required training they must take before participating in any Troop activities. This is to help you feel confident and equipped for the road ahead.
Where can I learn more?
The AHG Volunteer Handbook is a foundational, grab-and-go resource for every AHG Adult Member. It guides volunteers through best practices and guidelines, all while casting vision, offering encouragement, and sparking inspiration. This is a critical resource that sheds light on the “why behind the what” of policies and programming. Click here to purchase a copy of the AHG Volunteer Handbook.
