How to Guard Your Heart from Becoming Hard in Sin

“Break my heart for what breaks yours” –a powerful prayer for a world so numbed by pain. Perhaps it’s the constant, horrific news cycle, or the polarizing, hate-filled community that is social media, but we, and our girls, are at serious risk of our hearts hardening if we aren’t vigilant.

There are some common signs of a hardened heart—arrogance, pride, insensitivity to sin, indifference toward God’s Word, or even an inability to recognize God in the world. So how do we repair this in ourselves and our girls?

Proverbs 4:23 says it clearly: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Incorporating Scripture into every day, limiting negative media influences, and repenting, restorative prayer are all important measures your family can take toward guarding and softening your hearts.
