FOBO Leads Her Down a Path of Anxiety and Depression

If your girl is away from her smartphone, tablet, or other devices for longer than five seconds, does she feel like she can’t survive? With each passing second, she’s afraid of missing what’s happening in cyberspace!

It’s a term called FOBO… Fear of Being Off-line. Her anxiety from being disconnected is a withdraw symptom. If we’re honest, many of us, as parents, can also experience FOBO when disconnected from technology.

Studies show that depression and anxiety disorders are linked to social phobias like FOBO. Consider taking an extended technology break with your girl. Show her how she misses out on the everyday blessings in the “real world” when she’s focused on the fickle and ever-changing world of technology. Guide her to getting unplugged … and connected to God’s unchanging love.
