When Your Girl has Shame on Her Thanksgiving Plate

Thanksgiving is a time for feasting with family and friends to celebrate in gratitude blessings from the Lord. Throughout the Bible, feasts were a way to pour out joy among the people in response to God’s goodness. Rather than joy, what if your girl shows sadness leading up to this year’s Thanksgiving feast?

Approach her in compassionate curiosity—ask questions digging into the heart of her melancholy. She’s likely experiencing body image shame—so the upcoming feast has her calorie counting—but not for health.

God desires JOY in your girl’s heart during a time of celebratory feasting. Take her to Isaiah 55:1-3. Pray for the Lord to renew her mind and make her heart content so she can celebrate God’s blessings with joy on her plate rather than shame.
