When the Lazy Summer Mindset Goes a bit Too Far

Ahhhh, the lazy days of summer! Sleeping in, either no school or a slower school routine, staying up late. Families naturally embrace the welcome shift that comes with the summer season! Without hyper-scheduling the calendar though, what are the potential pitfalls of letting go of ALL routines? 

Learning loss research shows a significant decline in acquired skills and scholastic information in the absence of all structure during the summer break season. When your girl’s norm drastically shifts, her brain suffers when it’s time to fuse back into a formal learning environment. Work to keep awaken times, meal times, and bed times within a similar structure during the summer months. 

The Lord’s routines offer both structure and rest—so if our God is consistent, let us strive to live in the same way as Christian families!
