When a Change of Plans Derails Your Daughter’s Life

Canceled vacations. College rejection letters. Cross country moves.

Plans change, it’s a part of life. It’s okay for your daughter to grieve the loss of the experience she thought she’d have and to be disappointed in the way the change has impacted her life. Feeling like she’s “allowed” to feel her feelings is a critical component to raising an emotionally healthy person.

The important lesson to teach your girl in the midst of plans changing is that nothing comes as a surprise to God. While we plan for what we think is going to be our reality, God’s plans are bigger, and His view is wider. Proverbs reminds us: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
