Teach Your Girl to Exalt God before Asking for a List of Needs

If you’re a praying family, you probably hear this often to begin your girl’s prayers: “Dear God, thank you for this day. Thank you for…” This is a beautifully simple heart of gratitude. It is good to teach children to approach God in gratitude before asking a list of needs.

While this model of prayer suffices the early faith stage, how do her prayers grow into maturity? We can take the model of countless prayers in Scripture as a guide—many beginning in gratitude for the Character of God Himself.

As you guide your girl to tell God who He is—Mighty, Just, Loving, Faithful, and Wise—this will put her into a right heart posture as she expresses her needs to a Good Good Father.
