Teach Her to Handle Stress Well, Not Buckle Under Pressure

You may have heard today’s youth referred to as the “snowflake generation.” After years of parents being too quick to rescue their kids from the possibility of disappointment, emotional fragility and “taking offense” have become the norm.

As parents, it is essential to balance support and letting go. We must allow gravity to be our grit, stretching girls to go beyond their comfort zones and fail forward. We must provide opportunities for our girls to show responsibility and as a result, accountability.

What kids need is not a stress-free life but the framework to treat stress well, as a stimulus for growth rather than a reason to buckle. As Christians that framework begins in our understanding of our identity in the omniscient God who made us in His very image.
