Setting Herself Apart from Her Sibling can Boost Her Confidence

It’s the age-old struggle of younger siblings everywhere: back-to-school-season means trying to convince a new set of teachers that you are, in fact, just as great as your high-achieving older sibling. Or worse yet, that you aren’t your older sibling—that you have your own talents and abilities!

If your girl struggles with living up to her “sibling identity”, affirm her in her irreplaceable God-given value. Luke’s Gospel will remind her that God knows every hair on her head, and that He values her as His unique creation.

And if she’s really struggling, resist the urge to swoop in. Instead, encourage her to advocate for herself when she isn’t being valued—that’s a skill even most adults haven’t mastered!

Luke 12:7
