Is Your Girl Motivated to Serve Others?

How many times have you been encouraged to join an organization, or volunteer with a non-profit because it will “look good on your resume?”

Good news: many of today’s youth are less motivated by the notches on their resume, and more motivated by their internal drive and passions. The same may be true for your daughter.

Philippians tells believers not to serve selfishly, but to look to the needs of others. To cultivate a servant’s heart within your girl, consider what my friend Tim Elmore calls “exposing rather than imposing.”

Instead of imposing service requirements, expose your girl to the needs in your community. She may surprise you with the type of service project she’s motivated to create as she looks to the needs of others.
