Impulse Shopping and the Root Issue of Control

Does your girl struggle with impulsive shopping? It can be a sneaky habit—a cute top, a new nail polish, a fresh lip balm. Small things add up in the cart and before you know it, she’s spent every penny she has, or worse yet, you’re footing the bill!

The whole “I don’t go into the store with needs, I let the store tell me what I need” is a gluttonous mindset. Often, people with impulsive purchasing habits are experiencing stress somewhere else in their life. It isn’t called “retail therapy” for nothing! Shopping addictions can provide a sense of control, but we know that ultimately this impulsiveness can do more harm than good.

Challenge your girl to a no-spend month. It’s a great exercise in self-control, one of the fruits of the spirit!
