How to Successfully Parent a Christian Athlete

Does your daughter compete in a sport she adores? Perhaps she’s an archer or a swimmer and she goes above and beyond. But what happens if she gets injured or sick and has to take a break, or stop altogether?

She may feel like a failure and see no future without her sport. This is a sign that her identity is wrapped up in her athleticism. Have a heart to heart with your girl, empathize with her disappointment.

Most importantly, teach her that her identity can’t be found in sports or any other endeavor. Search the scriptures together to discover who God says she is.

She will see that no sport defines her. Her true identity can only be found in Christ.
