Gossip Feeds on the Need to Share a Secret & Get Attention

Gossip has a way of abruptly weaseling its way into your girl’s conversations, and, if she’s not vigilant, she may become the vehicle for its replication to others. Like a wildfire on parched land, gossip moves—FAST. 

But is gossip really that big of a deal to God? His Word says that gossip is a mark of worldly people NOT Christians. At its root, gossip feeds on the need to share secret information and harvest attention for self. So how can your girl take control of this sneaky need to chatter? 

Redirect her speech through the H.E.L.P. method asking, “Is it Helpful? Is it Edifying? Is it Loving? Does it promote Peace?” If not, counsel her to cut gossip off at its roots.
