Don’t Skip the Bible Genealogies when Discipling Your Girl

Does your girl tend to skip the genealogies in the Bible? Many Christians shy away from the lists of hard-to-pronounce names in places like Genesis chapter 5, Numbers chapter 1, and Matthew chapter 1. Understandably—I mean, we don’t see names like Lamech or Amminidab these days.

How can we embrace these sections rather than avoid them? Ask “what is God doing through these people?” and you’ll be on the right track! Often the genealogies show that God used ordinary people to accomplish His divine plan.

Make a game out of Bible names with your girl—see who can say them the fastest or quiz each other in rapid fire succession. The more fun you have with it, the more she will embrace both the names AND the God who guided their lives.
