Doing it for the ‘gram

Have you heard your girl utter the phrase “doing it for the ‘gram” and thought to yourself, huh?! Allow us to decode— ‘gram means Instagram. As in, doing something just so you can snap a photo and post about it online for the world to see.

The rivalry for likes and comments on social media is trickling over into how girls compete for the attention of others in all areas of their life. The pressure to look, dress, and act in an internet-approved way is tearing girls away from comfortably being their true selves.

Do you find your daughter is often “doing it for the ‘gram?” rather than her own enjoyment? Remind her that she deserves to live the life God gave her doing the things she loves, rather than documenting one that she thinks everyone else wants to see.
