There’s a seemingly forgotten virtue in today’s divisive culture–the virtue of kindness. Kindness on the surface may manifest itself with smiling, getting along, and not ruffling feathers. But to truly be kind–for kindness to be rooted in our lives–it takes much more effort than a veneer of congeniality.
True kindness is Spirit-produced. It is the antithesis of the wiring of man since the Fall. It requires a generous orientation of our hearts towards others–a genuine empathy. Kindness is loving people even when they don’t deserve it and don’t love us in return.
In Luke 6:35 Jesus calls us to love our enemies. Teach your girl that as followers of Christ on a journey to become more like Him, we are called to imitate God’s kindness.
