How to Approach Your Girl if she says, “I Identify As…”

Has your girl brought you questions surrounding cultural preferences or identity? With the surge of adolescents identifying as LGBTQ+ in recent years, many Christian parents are somewhat frantic when these issues move in.

Many girls will identify with a minority group to fulfill a sense of belonging. God designed your girl to seek acceptance, but from Him rather than the world. So if your girl comes to you questioning, speak to her core needs. Start with love—“I love you. God loves you.” Then move to the design: “God made you. By His design, you reflect His glory on earth.” Then reach across the relational chasm and ask gentle questions. Finally, be sure to listen.

Through your faith community and Christian counseling, God will guide your girl in establishing a strong identity in Him.
