Have you ever made brownies with your girl? If she is strong-willed, you know all too well the words “I can do it myself!”—even if you end up with eggshells in your batter or inevitably get called in to help with some part of the process…like washing the dishes.
Every parent and child will experience the “all by myself” gridlock. But rather than viewing it as a roadblock, consider building a bridge where both you and her can get to the other side unscathed while developing trust, patience, and life skills.
It’s human nature to want to prove ourselves capable, especially in our early years. As her parent and chief discipler, remind your girl that you’re always ready to help her through difficulty and that God is there seeing her through to victory in Him.
