Ambition. It’s a driving force behind the world’s most successful people. From CEOs to celebrities, influencers to scholarship winners. While ambition can motivate young women to do great things, have you ever considered that your daughter’s ambition could have a selfish component?
In Galatians 5:20, Paul lists selfish ambition in opposition to the Fruit of the Spirit. So when a girl forces herself into fame for her own glory, she works against what God seeks to do in and through her heart.
If your girl is naturally driven to excel, take care to guide her ambition into kingdom work rather than self-service. When the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and gentleness in her heart, your girl will reflect Christ rather than the worldly notion of success through selfish ambition.
