When Tempted to Seek Vengeance, Guide Your Girl to Seek Peace

Viral snippet videos of teen-against-teen violence and real-life friend group drama echo the mosh pit of adolescent social life these days. Teen girls tend to plant seeds of vengeance through knee-jerk retorts like “how dare she”, “who does she think she is”, and “she won’t get away with that.” When bullying crosses the threshold from words to physical, is your girl a violence seed, cultivator, or extinguisher?

In John 18, when Jesus was betrayed and arrested facing His impending crucifixion, He didn’t hop on the violence bandwagon when Peter drew a sword in retaliation. Why? Because He knew violence begets more violence

Teach your girl to extinguish the flames of violence in the temptation to seek vengeance. She doesn’t bear the image of God by taking foolish steps to exact her version of justice.

John 18:10-11
