On an old highway in rural Oklahoma, there is a crossroads called “Jealousy Junction”. The story of how it got the name is unclear, but what that place represents reminds us that nipping jealousy in the bud is key as soon as it surfaces. Jealousy, like many of Galatians five’s “works of the flesh”, is a sin that grows and grows. In fact, in the New Testament, it is often equated with fighting and divisiveness.
A jealous heart lacks peace, joy, and can’t trust another’s faithfulness. Jealous people are often afraid of being abandoned. If your girl struggles with jealousy, affirm God’s faithfulness to her, your steadfast love for her, and the Holy Spirit’s ability to make that dark corner of her heart new and secure.
