Think of times where your girl acted selfishly rather than selflessly. Since she’s human, it’s probably happening more often than not!
As a child, your world revolves around you. It’s natural human selfishness. But as she grows up, it’s important that you, her parent, work to shift the focus away from caring only for herself, and recognizing the needs in others too.
Selflessness is the antithesis of selfishness. Christians are called to live selfless, generous lives. To give away love, hope, and resources freely and abundantly. Proverbs tells us: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Ask your daughter to list three ways she can commit to giving selflessly today. Better yet, follow up with her tomorrow to see if she actually did!
