How often does your daughter hear you apologize to her or another loved one when you are wrong? Raising your girl to be a woman of integrity means teaching her to have a repentant heart. It’s not easy to be the first to say sorry. But as Christians, we are called to seek unity, and as her parent, it’s essential to lead by example.
The book of James says, “confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
The next time you realize that you’ve responded in a way that warrants an apology, take some time to ask for forgiveness in her presence. She will see firsthand what true and practical repentance looks like in your life and her own.
