Teach Her to Do Good with Her Resources at the Holidays

The holiday season will be here soon and thanks to friends and social media, your girl is probably already pining for the latest and greatest. Now is the time to incorporate some conversations about the effect materialism has on our lives. 

Talk about how your family can be a gift of service for others this season. Create new traditions that de-emphasize the receiving of gifts and emphasize giving instead. Hebrews 13 shares: “Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” 

Challenge your girl to make an impact on the life of someone else. Having a materialistic mindset can leave her feeling dissatisfied… and this emotion can negatively impact her outlook on life. Giving to others gives her something cool to look forward to!
