Think of the word “abundance” — what comes to mind? Chances are, words like “blessings” will surface. Ask your girl what “blessings” means. If she immediately goes to material things, you have a beautiful opportunity!  

You see, in the Bible abundant blessings come in many forms. Some can be material—food, shelter, water, prosperity—but often, “blessings” refers to things unseen. Jesus said in John 10, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” He was referring to the freedom from sin empowering a life blessed by joy, love, patience, peace—all the Fruit of the Spirit! 

Begin gradually steering your girl’s perception of blessings by praying for God’s gifts into your girl’s life. Blessings like abundant joy, a hunger for righteousness, wisdom to recognize sin. God will bless in abundance.
