Have you ever seen an x-ray of a toddler’s hand compared to that of a seven-year-old? Upon inspection, a toddler’s hand is still unformed—bones separated and joints loose—while an older child’s hand has more of a bone structure you’d expect to see.
This visual is often used by occupational therapists to explain why a preschooler might not be able to hold her crayon steadily, despite her parent’s best training efforts.
Our kids grow, physically, mentally, and spiritually, in their own time. Is your girl “behind” where you think she should be? Scripture tells us there is “a season for everything.” Embrace the milestones she’s hitting and celebrate her in this season God has placed her in today while preparing for what’s to come.
