Why Authority Doesn’t Always Mean Control

Say “authority”, and your girl probably thinks about your parental authority over her—that her parents are in charge. Authority, meaning “control.”

But beyond the parental variety, authority can be a tool we give our girls to take control over the things in life that can feel overwhelming. For your girl, that could mean a pop-quiz in chemistry or the dreaded parallel parking section of the road test. Encourage her to say “I take authority over this!” Self-talk is an incredible tool!

The enemy can instill a feeling of defeat in our lives, he can make us feel incapable and powerless in the face of difficulty…. But God! … We know that God rules with all authority and Ephesians reminds us that we are empowered through His Spirit!
