Whether you’re battling a teenager or a three-nager, a girl’s bad attitude has enough power to rattle even the most seasoned parent. When a girl acts out through classic maneuvers like the silent treatment, back talk, or blatant disregard, know that it’s a desperate attempt for control.
The simplest bit of wisdom to keep in mind when parenting a girl with an attitude—don’t stoke the fire. Instead of lashing back, pouring gasoline on the fire of emotion, validate her feelings, hold your boundary, and if applicable, offer a possible solution.
And pray—feverishly. Second Corinthians says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Let God work through your parenting struggle. God has the power to redeem families and restore relationships—and that includes your own.
