In Living For God, Evaluate Through the Lens of Eternity

As a family, do you ever find yourselves exhausted from all of the different ways you serve your church and your community? In his book Radical Together, Pastor David Platt calls this the “Tyranny of the Good.” Many Christians fall into this trap! We volunteer, teach classes, donate to the food pantry, support local causes—only to find ourselves grumpy and poured out.

If your family’s busyness becomes burdensome, it’s okay to call a timeout and reassess. In prayer, look at every good thing you’re doing and ask, “Does this last into eternity?” This pivotal crossroads could mean the difference between seeing God’s Kingdom work as intended or checking all the right boxes for all the wrong reasons. What a wonderful lesson for your daughter to learn about intentional service!
