Selah. It’s a Hebrew word, but unlike other Hebrew terms and phrases in Scripture, we don’t have a definitive meaning. It’s understood to mean ‘pause’, ‘praise’ or ‘forever’. It’s a bit of a mystery in Scripture, appearing 71 times in the Psalms in the Hebrew Bible.
Selah holds great meaning in today’s busy world. Remind your girl of the power of Selah. Talk about its meaning and read Psalm 66:4 together. Then, write the word on sticky notes for her to find throughout the school day, in her lunch or in her notebooks. Raise her to remember that in the midst of life, we should take pause or a moment of praise and recognize what God is doing in our life, that He is good—forever.
Psalm 66:4, NIV
