The fear of failure is the most common reason that we, as Christians, don’t step out in faith. It should come as no surprise why we’re so caught up in the idea of disappointment. Each of us has an audience watching our every move—and that doesn’t just include people in our daily lives. Today, girls are inundated with other people’s opinions on social media, so it’s no wonder why your girl might be afraid to tackle challenges.
If your daughter is struggling with crippling FOPO, or a Fear of Other People’s Opinions, remind her who the real judge of our lives is—God. And we know that He loves us in great abundance, regardless of how successful we are.
Make your home a safe space where your daughter can try new things, like a Pinterest recipe or a new musical instrument. Reassure her in her God-given abilities, and be ready to let her fail—but fail forward. Every experience she has should build her up into the woman of integrity she is destined to be!
Looking for a way to encourage your daughter through this season of girlhood? Get her involved with American Heritage Girls, the premier character and leadership development program for girls ages 5 to 18! Find a Troop near you, visit americanheritagegirls.org/find-a-Troop.
