Have you heard a government official or CEO describe themselves recently on the news as “gentle and lowly”? I bet you haven’t! Our modern culture has a tough relationship with authority and gentleness. You see, in order to gain power, one must distance themselves from true gentleness, compassion, and love. We tend to look for authoritative figures to speak…well, authoritatively. But can you have BOTH gentleness and power in a leader? 

Jesus was both perfectly in authority according to Matthew 28:18 AND perfectly gentle and approachable in Matthew 11:29. Jesus met people eye-to-eye, seeing them through and through.  

When your girl struggles to understand gentleness alongside power, point her to Jesus and then, model it for her in your home. She can revere her King and give Him her whole heart.
