I’ve heard it said “Culture says to make a difference, you must be heard. But God says to make a difference, you must listen.” There is great value in teaching our girls to use their voices—to speak up in class or to advocate for others. But in addition to encouraging our girls to be heard, it can be easy to forget to convey the importance of listening.
They can learn to listen for God’s voice—but it will likely require some awkward silence. Girls today are so plugged in that true peace and quiet can be difficult, if not impossible, to come by.
Direct her to pause the playlist and try out some quiet, meditative prayer for 10 minutes a day. God might be whispering behind the noise of our daily lives!
