The early Christians knew a world filled with partiality—that is, favoritism for some and discrimination against others. Clean or unclean, slave or free, rich or poor… While the human race has made great strides toward unity, partiality still exists today, and looks just as ugly.  

As you approach topics like race relations and discrimination with your daughter, keep the Epistle of James in mind. In James 2, James talks to the early Christians about being a loving church, one where partiality, discrimination, and favoritism has no place.  

I’ve heard it said, “to discriminate against a fellow man is to interfere with the kingdom of God.” It’s our role as Christian parents to raise up a generation of inclusive, united, and loving kids.
