Have you considered the difference between we are saved FROM works-based salvation versus we are saved TO good works BECAUSE of our salvation? The Old Testament Law, while from God, showed us that we’d never achieve holiness on our own merit or works. Christ’s sacrifice shows us that we are leaning on His Work and His Resurrection, freeing us to do good works.
How does this play out in your family’s life? If your family rewards or punishes a child based on their performance, consider a new approach. What if we parented our kids as an outflow of our own identity, and then good works sprang from that foundation? As you lead your daughter, don’t be afraid to let God refine your thinking so she can receive her own rooted identity in Christ rather than works.
