If your daughter asks you “why” long enough, you’ll eventually get to one of those deep truths that must be true, otherwise the universe doesn’t make any sense. The sacredness of human life is one of those truths. 

To be sacred is to be set apart for the worship of God. And that is what we are! We are God’s unique creation, made in His image. Our end goal is to know, love, and worship God forever. 

It’s up to Christian parents to reaffirm in our own homes that each life matters for the simple reason that God says over every human heart: “This one is Mine; I made it, I love it, and I call it.” And as we put that belief into action, we become beacons of the Gospel to the rest of the world.
