When your girl plays dress-up or does she run around the house proclaiming how pretty she looks? I can almost hear the undeniable sound of plastic high heels on the floors just thinking about it! Dress up can be such a sweet experience, but if you aren’t careful, it can lead to a skewed sense of self-worth in later years.
Next time she digs out the ball gowns and accessories, shift the focus from the beauty “achieved” by dressing up, and instead, re-frame the experience as being fancy. She’s always beautiful, because God made everyone that way, but when she dresses up, she’s being fancy!
See what you did there? You affirmed her God-given worth and beauty and took away the requirement of dressing up to get there.
