Your daughter probably dreams about what she wants to be when she grows up. Christian girls in particular can feel the pressure to make sure that what they aspire to in life fits within a certain “box.” In the pursuit of being a “godly girl”, might your daughter feel like she has to choose some sort of ministry-based career?
It’s easy for us as Christians to see how certain professions can serve the Lord. Doctors, teachers, missionaries—they care for, shape, and transform our world. But what if your daughter aspires to a different career path, like a television reporting or a software development? Does she know that her work, no matter the field, can be a form of worship?
When we encourage our daughters to explore their God-given gifts and talents, we are showing them a way to honor the Lord. As Paul’s letter to the Corinthians tells us “whatever you do, do all for the glory of God.”
