Just how detrimental is isolation to a girl’s well-being? If our culture learned anything from the last five years, it’s that the effects of prolonged seclusion are dark and don’t easily heal. Anxiety, screen-addiction, depression, metabolic disorders—all are tangible outcomes that plague modern girlhood.
Scripture reminds us that Christians are called to live in community. While virtual connection doesn’t always satisfy the basic need for human interaction, it’s a start. Look for ways to connect your daughter with members of her faith community, like creating a podcast-listening club or joining a video-based Bible study series. Then shift into face-to-face interactions, and for added benefit—opt for outdoors time with friends.
If she’s gotten closed off, little by little, your girl will re-learn the art of being together again—with Jesus shepherding her every step.
