Your girl just got devastating news: She didn’t make the team. Her most trusted friend is moving away. She didn’t get the babysitting job she hoped for. Now she’s stuck. How do you help her navigate the next step when her hopes are dashed?
Recognize that this is grief for her—don’t steamroll past her hurt. Be willing to take a side-step and sit with her for a good cry. Offer gentle guidance into balanced lamenting—saying the pain aloud and leaning on God’s Goodness rather than cultivating bitterness or anger. Finally, avoid independent grieving. In prayer, lead her to the Lord. He’ll honor her honesty before Him.
When life doesn’t go how she thought, lead your girl in a way of gratitude—for who God is and for the life she DOES have.
Psalm 120:1
