“Mom, I don’t even know what to pray these days. With all that’s going wrong in the world, I feel like I’m just whining to God when I pray.” Your girl is feeling the weight of praying for a world full of brokenness, strife, death, and destruction. That’s a grownup burden to take on.  

Have you shown her the minor prophets in the Old Testament? Take Habakkuk for example. This prophet began his book of the Bible crying out to God and ended confident in the Lord’s strength. This is a heart of holy lament. 

God hears your girl’s prayers. He is wise, capable, and just. Help her trust the Lord who has promised to make all things new and will deliver in His faithful time.
