Do Your Girl’s Failures Make You Feel Like a Failure?

Have you recently navigated the tightrope of receiving feedback about your girl? Whether through impromptu conversations after preschool pick-up or a quick grocery store exchange with her dance instructor, when you hear the words, “I need to tell you something about your girl”, you’re on the tightrope.

If the feedback is negative, a parent can feel that it represents themselves. In those moments, ask yourself, “Why am I embarrassed? Is this from my girl’s behavior, or is it because my own identity is tied up in her behavior?”

God is training you to raise your girl. This happens BOTH in her obedience and disobedience. Pray for the Lord to renew your mind in those moments. Your walk with the Lord is different than hers, and there’s grace upon grace for you both.

Referenced verse: Romans 12:2, John 1:16
