Lawnmower Parenting: Far Worse than Helicopter Ever Was

You’ve likely heard of “helicopter parenting”—a hovering, overbearing style. And in recent years the “lawnmower parenting” approach has shown itself—the parent “mows over” any obstacle so a child doesn’t have to face adversity. What are the results of these styles of parenting your girl?

She needs opportunities to try, fail, try again, and LEARN. If she never fails or has hardships, how will she learn to trust her instincts, or, worse yet—she will never learn to lean on the Lord!

In Hebrews 12, God’s discipline is seen as an act of fatherly love. Sometimes He allows failure to spotlight a learning moment so we can grow in holiness and maturity. These are far better than any temporary moment of comfort and ease your girl might experience by sidestepping hardship.
