Trendy clothes, fancy vacations, luxury houses—your girl sees what others enjoy and feels the pang of envy to have it for herself. But even more than material blessings, many adolescent girls struggle with comparison based on giftings or appearance. “I want her voice” or “I HAVE to have her hair!”
The Bible calls this coveting, and God warns against it. How does the toggle flip from envy to joy in your girl’s heart? Through prayer—simple as that. Prayers like “God, help me to love my friend and be happy that she has a beautiful singing voice” can transform coveting to joy in an instant.
Go a step further and THANK God for what she has—giftings like compassion, generosity, or being a math whiz, all used for God’s glory!
