Why Manifesting What She Wants Isn’t the Truth of God

If your daughter spends any time on social media, she’s sure to see content about manifesting. Also known as “The Secret” or “Lucky Girl Syndrome”, manifesting is the practice of training your subconscious to get what you want. Money, relationships, opportunities—it’s believed that manifesting makes dreams a reality.

Your girl may be wondering—what’s the difference between prayer and manifesting? After all, aren’t we asking God for the things we want too? But the key differences here are entitlement and orchestration. We come to God on bended knee to pray for His will to be done. Manifesting is about self-reliance. Prayer reflects our reliance on God.

First John puts it plainly: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

1 John 5:14, NIV
