There are three common warning signs that your daughter is seriously addicted to her phone: one, she can’t stop scrolling. Two, she’s not getting enough sleep. Blue light emitted from phones actually signals our brains to stay awake. And three, her thoughts are racing. Social media can make us feel incredibly anxious and unhappy.
Our habits are what shape our days, weeks, years, and eventually, lifetimes. Does the thought of a lifetime of scrolling, comparison, and anxiety sound like a life well-spent? I don’t think so either.
If screen time limits aren’t cutting it, consider some old fashioned advice—“don’t come inside until the street lights turn on!” Introduce your girl to a new hobby that simply can’t involve a phone, like biking or gardening. Getting outside is one way to break the addiction!
