Why the Effects of Being Ignored are More Harmful Than You Think

Researchers have discovered that when we feel ignored, our bodies go into a stress response. In these cases, the brain can treat emotional pain the same way it does physical pain.

The key to overcoming the pain we feel when we feel ignored is the support of someone we love. As her parent, you hold that special key! Your listening ear can help your daughter overcome the stinging words of mean girls and the difficulty that comes with being an adolescent.

Of course, the goal in raising a Godly girl in today’s world is to raise a kind, Christ-honoring, and resilient girl. But resilient doesn’t mean unaffected. God gave us emotions and bodies that regulate our physical responses. The important trait in building up a gritty girl is recognizing the difficulty, overcoming it, and recovering quickly so she can thrive again.
