As adults, we understand the full circle of life. We rejoice in the knowledge that our forever home will be in heaven. But how do our children process loss, especially of a family member or close friend?
Some withdraw, others act out, and some seem to not be outwardly affected. Take the time to talk with your daughter in an age-appropriate way about loss and sorrow. Let her know that you are there to listen.
Grief may feel like it’s never-ending, but using God’s word as a guide through the good times and bad will be a source of comfort. The Book of John shares, “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
John 16:22, NIV
